Rams face West Coast duo in California
FORT COLLINS – Heading out on the road for the first time in conference play, the team packs a bit of confidence in the bags as it heads to the West Coast for a pair of Mountain West duals.
Â
Colorado State closed out a homestand with a 4-3 win against New Mexico this past Sunday, rallying back from a 3-1 deficit to post a conference dual win on the first weekend of play. This week, the Rams will face Fresno State on Friday (6 p.m.), followed by a Sunday match at San Jose State (12 p.m.) Live scoring is available for both duals.
Â
Fresno State split the first round of Mountain West play, losing to Boise State before rebounding with a win against Utah State. Sofia Pizzoni has won nine matches this spring, playing in the top three spots of the Bulldogs' lineup.
Â
San Jose State's Cheuk Ting Shek enters the week ranked No. 118 in singles, boasting an 18-5 mark on the season. The Spartans won both matches to open the weekend, facing the same squads as did the Bulldogs.
Â
Logan Voeks, whose win at No. 3 clinched the New Mexico win, leads the squad with 12 singles victories on the season, having won two in a row. Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya and Mariya Dobreva each have 10 wins on the season. The doubles combo of Sarah Weekley and Victoria Erechtchenko have been formidable this spring, going 10-8 on the season and 7-4 in duals including a recent four-match win streak.
