MEET NOTES
- It was less than a month ago that the Colorado State men's track and field side raised the trophy at the Mountain West Indoor Championships. The Jack Christiansen Invite will mark the beginning of its march to the outdoor counterpart in an effort to complete a conference sweep. The women are also looking ahead to Fresno, where the focus is on defending their 2024 title in a few months.
- One of the top indoor for the men's team, Tyler Cowell, will look to continue a historic junior campaign. Colwell torched the MW Indoor Championships, finishing first in the 400 meters with a personal record 20.80, and second place in the 60. At the Jack Christiansen, Colwell has seen similar success finishing first in the 400 and second in the 100 in 2024.
- Northern Colorado native Kajsa Borrman also showed out in Albuquerque, beating out teammate Mya Lesnar for gold in the indoor weight throw. Borrman peaked at the right time, setting a personal best 21.67-meters/71-feet, 1.25 to claim the top mark. Borrman finished second in the hammer throw, fourth in the discus toss, and seventh in the shot put at the 2024 Jack Christiansen invite.
- It seemed every week of the indoor season Cole Nordman was making headlines. The senior sprinter's name is all over the CSU record book including the top mark in the 55 hurdles and top five appearances in the 60 hurdles and 200; all marks set this season. Nordman was a member of the hurdler trifecta that finished 1-2-3 and raked in a massive 27 points at the MW Indoor Championships, finishing ahead of junior Carsen Bruns and senior Dominic Gallelli.
- A slew of freshmen phenoms made their mark on the indoor season including jumper Ndayiragije Shukurani. Sukurani scored in three events at the MW Indoor Championships, highlighted by a tie for third in the high jump with teammate Rhys Travis. Shukurani's season was defined by a first-place finish and personal best 2.06/6-9 in the high jump at the Colorado Classic (Jan 17-18). Another freshman, Travis Turner finished third in the 400 Albuquerque, a personal best (47.17). Turner is already fourth all time in the indoor 400 in his first season.
