Men's high jump goes 1-through-4 with PRs abound.

GOLDEN – Colorado State track and field wrapped up another week of action as several Rams impressed on the final day of the Mines Kit Mayer Classic.

  • The men's high jump produced the most promising results of the afternoon with the Rams taking the top four spots in the event. Rhys Travis led the way with a 2.08 meter/6-feet-9.75 jump to win the event and set an outdoor personal best that places him tied for 11th in program history. Also jumping 2.08/6-9.75 was reigning conference indoor champion Timothy Johnson, who set an outdoor personal best as well, while Jamison Taylor (2.05/6-8.75, PR) and Ndayiragije Shukurani (2.00/6-6.75) rounded out the top four.
  • Another Ram podium sweep took place in the women's discus as Klaire Kovatch, Makayla Long and Kajsa Borrman combined to take the top spots in the meet for the second-straight week. Kovatch was the top finisher of the day with her season-best throw of 54.72/179-6, which would have been tied for 22nd nationally entering the weekend.
  • Jumper Ismael Dembele continues to deliver spectacular performances as the reigning Mountain West Men's Field Athlete of the Week jumped a personal best 7.60/24-11.25 to finish second in the long jump. The mark moves Dembele up to third on the school's all-time list, making him top five in both the long and triple jump.
  • In the women's long jump, Cierra Gonzalez established herself among the program's top-10 athletes of all time as she set a personal best with a mark of 5.91m/19-4.75 to finish third in the event. Just behind her was Kylee Kielian (5.78/18-11.75) who finished fourth and put herself among the top 20 in CSU history.
  • Two Rams set personal bests to finish in the top three of the men's shot put as Daniel Baroumbaye (17.66/57-11.25) and Leonardo Ramos-Valles (17.54, 57-6.50) each entered the program's top 20 in the event.
  • Kyle Bigley was the winner of the men's discus toss with his mark of 48.95/160-7). Also winning their event was Annabella Palillian, who ran a 14.26 in the 100 hurdles to set a personal best.

The Rams are set to compete in a trio of meets next week, beginning with the Bryan Clay Invitational (Azusa, Calif.) which gets underway on Wednesday (April 16).
