Women’s tennis enters as the ninth seed for the tournament
FORT COLLINS – Time to put it all together.Â
Â
Colorado State women's tennis finished the season 2-8 in conference play which seeded it at No. 9 in the Mountain West tournament. The Rams will match up Wednesday with No. 8 Wyoming at 11 a.m. (MT) in Las Vega, Nev., meaning the postseason begins where the regular season ended.
Â
"This team has shown incredible resilience all year," coach Mai-Ly Tran said, "They've faced adversity head-on and have grown tremendously through it. They've pulled out gritty wins and consistently put themselves in a position to help the team succeed."Â
Â
The Cowgirls were 4-6 against the Mountain West, including their recent win over Colorado State, 4-1. Â
Â
Elena Trencheva has been the most successful singles player for Wyoming with a 5-3 record. The Cowgirls' most successful doubles team is partners Violetta Borodina and Dilnaz Mashabayava, who have gone 6-2.Â
Â
The newest Ram, Diana Lizarazo tied senior Victoria Erechtchenko for the most conference singles wins. Both players won three singles matches and Erechtchenko was part of the Rams' top doubles pair with Sarah Weekley, posting a 5-1 mark.Â
Â
"We're ready to make this a tournament run to remember," Tran said, "The final touches of preparation are coming together as we gear up for a rematch against Wyoming. Energy is high and excitement is real. The team is ready to go."Â
Â
The winner of Colorado State's match with Wyoming will go on to play the No. 1 seed, San Diego State, on Thursday. The match will have both live streaming and live stats here.Â
