Erechtchenko, Weekley earn first Mountain West honors
FORT COLLINS – A pairing born out of necessity became one of the best in the conference.
Â
Victoria Erechtchenko and Sarah Weekley, Colorado State's top doubles team, was named All-Mountain West in voting conducted by coaches the league announced on Tuesday, the eve of the Mountain West Tournament.
Â
Injuries on the roster led to their pairing for a fall tournament, and they played so well together Colorado State coach Mai-Ly Tran wasn't about to separate the two seniors. They posted a 14-8 campaign for the season, going 11-4 in duals, capped by a 5-1 mark in conference play. They enter the tournament having won four consecutive decisions and going 8-2 in their past 10.
Â
Their selection continues an impressive run for the program, making it the seventh consecutive season one of the Rams' doubles pairings has been named All-Mountain West.
Â
The Rams enter the tournament at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nev., as the No. 8 seed and will face No. 9 Wyoming at 11 a.m. (MT) on Wednesday.
