Team takes on Utah State on Sunday
BOISE, Idaho – Colorado State hasn't shied away from the script at all this season, knowing it's heading into a dual in a hole. Once again, the women's tennis team had some encouraging performances, falling short in the end with a 4-0 loss to Boise State.
Â
The Rams slipped to 3-15 in duals, 1-6 in Mountain West play as the Broncos evened their conference mark at 3-3, 12-5 overall.
Â
Boise State earned the doubles point, earning victories at the Nos. 2 and 3 positions. And while Colorado State was able to win opening sets in the three of the five singles matches, the Broncos' top two players in the lineup secured the team win.
Â
Zdena Safarova topped Sarah Weekley in straight sets at No. 1, while Maya Dutta did the same against Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya at No. 2.
Â
The Rams' Logan Voeks (No. 3) and Victoria Erechtchenko (No. 4) won first sets, both still playing in the second when play was abandoned. Freshman Diana Lizarazo at No. 5 has spot the first two sets and was just beginning her third set.
Â
Colorado State remains on the road, traveling to Utah State on Sunday (11 a.m.).
