Four carry perfect multi-year score; nine for 2023-24

FORT COLLINS  – Colorado State's athletic programs continue to thrive in the Academic Progress Rate report, with every program well above the minimum threshold of 930 set by NCAA guidelines. Four programs hold perfect multi-year APR scores of 1,000 – women's basketball, women's golf, women's swimming and diving and women's tennis. Multi-year scores date back to the 2020-21 academic calendar.

"The continued academic success of our entire athletic department is a true testament to the dedication, balance, and relentless pursuit of excellence of our student-athletes, coaches, and academic support staff," Director of Athletics John Weber said. "Our goal is for every student-athlete that comes to Colorado State to be Ram Ready for the next step in their life journey when they graduate from CSU. That means we maximize their potential in every opportunity they have by providing the tools and support needed to be great."

This marks the eighth successive report where the athletic programs have combined for better than a 985 multi-year average, hitting 989 for the current report, a one-point improvement. The CSU average for all programs in the single-year report was also 989.

The annual report, this one for the 2023-24 season, found nine teams with perfect APRs, with both cross country squads, men's golf, women's soccer and women's track and field added to the list. In last year's report, eight teams posted perfect scores. Twelve Colorado State programs posted multi-year APRs better than the national average of public and private institutions.

The APR, created to provide more of a real-time measurement of academic success than graduation rates offer, is a team-based metric in which scholarship student-athletes earn 1 point each term for remaining eligible and 1 point for staying in school or graduating.

Every Division I sports team submits data to have its Academic Progress Rate calculated each academic year. The NCAA reports both single-year and four-year rates, on which penalties for poor academic performance are based. National aggregates are based on all teams with usable, member-provided data. APRs for each team, lists of teams receiving public recognition and those receiving sanctions are available online.
