Rams win game two to sweep series over Colorado
BOULDER, Colo. – The Golden Spike Trophy will stay in Fort Collins for another year as the Colorado State volleyball team defeated Colorado in a four-set battle Friday night in Boulder during game two of the home-and-home series.

Up Next: As Colorado State wrapped up non-conference play Friday night, the Rams will kick off the Mountain West season with a matchup at Wyoming Thursday before returning home to cap the week against Nevada in CSU's annual State Pride game. Saturday will also serve as Alumni Weekend in celebration of the program's 50th Year.

Colorado State (3) – Colorado (1) – (25-11, 25-21, 25-21, 26-24)
- After sweeping the Buffs in game one of The Battle for the Golden Spike series Thursday night in Fort Collins, Colorado came out with vengeance causing the Rams to fall short against the Buffs in the first set Friday night, 25-11. Â
- Colorado State evened the match in the second set with a, 25-21, victory fueled by a total of 16 kills by the Rams hitting at a .256 compared to .000 in the first set.
- With a back-and-forth advantage set underway that involved five tie scores and two lead changes, the Rams took the lead in the match by winning the third set 25-21. Â Maria Brun totaled four kills alone in the third frame, while Kekua Richards added three total blocks in the third set alone.
- After trailing 12-6 in the fourth set, the Rams rallied back one point at a time to tie the score at 18. Forcing deuce points, Brun kill won the match for the Rams at 26-24 to take home the Golden Spike Trophy.
- Halle Jameson led the team with 14 kills on the night while Brun and Brenna Rowland also contributed ten kills each.
- The Colorado State defense totaled 53 digs on the nigh with libero Aine Doty leading the way with 16.
