The sophomore star sits alone as indoor high jump king
BOULDER – Colorado State track and field kickstarted their 2026 season Friday at the CU Potts Invite. Field athletes took the stage, highlighted by a record-breaking performance in the men's high jump.Â

- Ndayiragije Shukurani made his season debut in the high jump in a thrilling fashion, recording a 2.18-meters/7-feet-2 to become Colorado State's indoor high jump all-time record holder. Shukurani has been on a collision course with the record since reaching the seven-foot mark last May at the Doug Max Invite. The sophomore was already ranked fourth in the country in the triple jump coming into the day and now sits in the same place in the high jump.Â
- Taylor Waters continues to impress in his freshman season, recording a personal best of 5.25/17-2.75. The Colorado native ranks in the top 25 across the entire nation and is tied for the best mark by a freshman thus far. Waters is now just shy of the all-time indoor record sitting in second place behind Josh Horak (17.30).Â
- The shot put saw the pair of Leonardo Ramos and Kyle Bigley finish third and fourth, respectively. Ramos recorded an indoor personal best in the throw to move into the all-time record books (17.9/58-7.5). The women's side saw Makayla Long claim the top spot once again at (16.02/52-6.75 the senior ranks 11th in the nation. Â
- Weight throw continues to be a bright spot for the Rams with Kajsa Borrman claiming the top spot once again at 20.47/67-2. The women recorded another podium sweep with Long and Kovatch coming in at second and third, respectively. Long set a personal best on the day at 18.86/61-10.5. On the men's half Adam Hellbom finished third at 19.35/63-6, and Cameron Kalaf set a personal best in fourth with his 19.16./62-10.5 Â
