Four Rams reach double digits as Ronsiek and Froebe notch double-doubles

FRESNO, Calif. — Colorado State overcame a slow first half to come back and beat Fresno State on the road, 68-55, on Saturday afternoon thanks to big-time performances from Madelyn Bragg and Hannah Ronsiek.

CSU (17-4, 8-2 MW) had an efficient start to the game, making three of its first five shots to go up 8-2 early. The offense went cold from there, however, as the Rams shot just 22.2% and went 0-for-5 from 3-point range in the second quarter, allowing the Bulldogs (11-10, 5-5 MW) to enter halftime with a 23-20 lead.

The Rams came out of the locker room with a clear objective to attack the paint, turning to Bragg to lead the charge. The senior forward scored 13 second-half points to jumpstart CSU's offense, which outscored Fresno State by nine in the third period to position themselves in front. The Rams opened the fourth quarter with a methodical 11-4 scoring run to seize full control and made enough stops on the defensive end to board the plane home with a win.

Bragg led Colorado State with 18 points on an impressive 7-of-9 shooting from the floor. Fellow South Dakota native, Hannah Ronsiek, turned in another marquee performance, recording her second-straight double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Kloe Froebe also chipped in a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Brooke Carlson cracked double figures with 12 points.

How it Happened
The Rams set the pace early as just over a minute in, Bragg capitalized on a Carlson steal with a layup. Ronsiek then drained two three-pointers, courtesy of Lexus Bargesser's assists, pushing the lead to 8-2. Fresno State tried to inch back with Emilia Long's layup and a jumper from Danae Powell, closing the gap to 8-6. Even with Powell's late three-pointer and a free throw by Djessira Diawara, the Rams held onto a 12-10 lead, capped by Ronsiek's layup with 12 seconds left in the quarter.

Fresno State edged out the Rams in the second quarter, 13-8. After a series of missed threes from both sides, Diawara broke through with a layup at 8:08, assisted by Long. The Rams faced turnover troubles, coughing up the ball six times, including a critical error with 22 seconds left that led to Long's fast-break layup, giving the Bulldogs a slim halftime lead. Despite Bragg's efforts at the free-throw line, the Rams trailed at the break.

In the third quarter, the Rams took control, outpacing the Bulldogs 28-19. Ronsiek's three-pointer at 9:08 pulled the game even at 23-23, lighting a spark in the Rams' offense. Carlson punctuated the quarter with a fast-break three at the buzzer, pushing the Rams to a 48-42 lead. Even with Long's three-pointer, Fresno State couldn't keep up with the Rams' relentless scoring.

The Rams sealed the deal in the final quarter. Bragg played a pivotal role, hitting a jumper at 9:31 and a layup at 7:32 to widen the lead. Bargesser chipped in with a crucial layup at 8:10, and Carlson nailed a three-pointer at 1:21 to round out the scoring burst. The Bulldogs made an effort to rally, with Powell sinking a three at 6:17 and Emilia Long adding a jumper and free throw at 4:12, yet the Rams maintained their grip on the game.
