Colorado State wraps up River State Classic by taking down the host
SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Colorado State softball team finished the River State Classic with a clutch win against Texas State after going 10 innings. Â

- The Rams edged past Texas State University with a 3-2 victory in extra innings on Sunday. The Rams secured the win with an 11-hit performance and a decisive run in the 10th inning.Â
- Colorado State took an early lead in the sixth inning when Lindsey Hinson, pinch running for Kyra Smith, scored an unearned run following an error by the center fielder. Abby Edwards reached first on the error, allowing the run to score. Â
- In the eighth inning, the Rams regained the lead. Madi Eslinger, placed on second due to the international tiebreaker rule, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Kaylynn English. Edwards then singled through the left side, bringing Eslinger home. Â
- The tenth inning saw Colorado State secure the victory. Smith, placed on second, advanced to third on a groundout by Eslinger. English then singled to shortstop, driving in the go-ahead run. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Rams.Â
- Giselle Bentley had an impressive performance, pitching five complete innings while allowing only one hit and no earned runs. She recorded seven strikeouts and maintained a WHIP of 0.98, issuing four walks across 101 pitches. Â
- Reagan Wick contributed four and a half innings in relief, giving up one hit and one run while striking out two batters. Wick managed to keep her WHIP at 0.95 through 63 pitches and secured a win, improving her season record to 3-4.Â
- Stucky contributed offensively with two hits, including a double and posted an OPS of 1.250. English showcased versatility by recording two hits, one of which was a double, and driving in a run. Edwards added two hits and an RBI, enhancing the team's offensive efforts.Â
Up Next: Colorado State will host the Colorado Classic in its first home weekend of the spring season. The Rams will begin tournament play Saturday at 1 p.m. against Northern Colorado.
