Colorado State faces San Jose State in annual Fight Like a Ram game

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men's basketball returns home for the first time in two weeks to host San Jose State on Saturday night. The Rams and Spartans tip off at 7:00 p.m. in the program's annual Fight Like a Ram Game. Once again, players will wear the names of cancer warriors on their jerseys.

The game is part of a doubleheader at Moby Arena as CSU women's basketball hosts Wyoming at 2 p.m. with tickets for that game starting at just $1. Tickets for the two games and parking are separate as the arena and parking lot will be cleared out between games.

Opening Tip
- Colorado State could not buy a basket against Wyoming, falling 68-57 in Laramie last Saturday.
- The Rams matched its season low in made 3-pointers with four only shooting 17.4% behind the line.
- CSU's bench outscored its starters 29-28.
- Jevin Muniz led all Rams with 14 points off the bench and dished out seven assists.
- Kyle Jorgensen was the only other Ram in double figrues scoring with 13 points and a team-leading six rebounds.
- San Jose State head coach Tim Miles gave CSU head coach Ali Farokhmanesh his first crack at coaching, hiring Farokhmanesh as a graduate assistant when Miles was at Nebraska.
- Saturday's game is the annual Fight Like a Ram game where CSU Athletics and UCHealth partner in celebrating great cancer warriors in the community.
- Both teams will be well rested coming into the game having not played for a week.
- Turnovers have hurt the Rams in conference play turning it over 13.3 times per game after committing just 10.9 during non-conference play.
- CSU ranks 129th in the nation and fourth in the Mountain West in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.29.
- The Rams 15.6 assists per game are the third best in the Mountain West and 91st in the nation.
- Colorado State is assisting on 61.1% of its made field goals on the year, the 25th best mark in the nation.
- CSU's effective field goal percentage of 58.6% is 13th in the nation and leads the Mountain West.
- Colorado State has a pair of Mountain West Players of the Week so far this season in Kyle Jorgensen and Josh Pascarelli.
- Jorgensen's performance over the first week earned him Mountain West Player of the Week honors. The sophomore averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal in the first two games of the season.
- Pascarelli earned his honor after his performance against Colorado (12/6/25). The junior scored 26 points connecting on eight 3-pointers for the second straight game.
- CSU earned a second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2024-25 and third in four years.
- Colorado State's 26 wins in 2024-25 tied for the second most in program history. They finished one win behind the record of 27 set by the 2014-15 team. 
- The Rams welcomed the best transfer portal class in the Mountain West in 2025 ranking 61st in the nation.
- Colorado State has the longest active streak of having a player on the first team All-Mountain West list at seven years. Nico Carvacho (2019-20), David Roddy (2021-22), Isaiah Stevens (2023-24) and Nique Clifford (2025).
- Nique Clifford became the fourth player in program history to be picked in the first round of the NBA Draft in June. Clifford was the 24th pick overall by Oklahoma City with his rights traded to Sacramento.
- Clifford had one of the best seasons in program history his final year. He earned AP All-America honorable mention, was the MVP for the Mountain West Tournament and helped the program earn its first Mountain West title since 2003 by winning the Mountain West Tournament.

Scouting the Spartans
San Jose State is led by the guard pair of Colby Garland and Jermaine Washington. Garland leads the team with 18.2 points per game and 4.3 assists. Washington is averaging 11.9 points and has made 45 3-pointers this season.
 
The injury bug has hurt the team this season with only one player having played in all 22 games.
 
The Spartans have struggled on the defensive end of the floor allowing 77.0 points per game and opponents are shooting 49.1% against them. Their lone conference win came at home against Air Force.

What's Ahead
The Rams stay in-state, but hit the road to take on Air Force on Tuesday at 7 p.m. CSU won the first match up between the two teams 81-52 inside Moby Arena.

Colorado State returns home on Valentine's Day where no love will be lost as the Rams host Wyoming in the Border War at 2:00 p.m. CSU Athletics will welcome Jason Smith to the Ring of Honor at halftime of the game.
