MEET NOTESÂ Â
MEET NOTESÂ Â
- The distance crew will make their outdoor debut in the Bay Area on Friday and Saturday. Headlining the group are freshmen Ruby Schwelm and Parker Westermann. Schwelm finished third in the mile at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships and will make her collegiate debut in the 1500 and 800 events. Westermann made the finals in the Mile at conference, while also anchoring the bronze medal DMR team. The Washington native returns to the west coast, also entered in the 1500 and 800 events. Â
- The "flight crew" looks to get vertical on Saturday with three jumpers making their season opener. Headlining the group is MW Champion Ndayiragije Shukurani. The highflyer cruised to a first-place finish at the conference at 2.16-meters/7-feet-1, just nearly missing on the national stage. Shukurani's biggest challenger in Reno was silver medalist Jesse Imemba who is making his outdoor debut for CSU. Also on the list is 2025 outdoor gold medalist Rhys Travis. Â
- A few more conference medalists will get to work this weekend, including Trenton Givens. The senior enters the 110h and 400h for the first time as a Ram and looks to be a major addition to the hurdle squads that both rank third in the nation.Â
- Additional sprinters entering the fold this week are Travis Turner and Grace Lanfear. Both have been dealing with injuries, with Lanfear missing the indoor conference championships. Turner will enter the 400 with Lanfear in the 400 hurdles. Â
