GAME NOTES
- Colorado State picked up its first season opening win since 2017 with a 35-13 victory over rival Wyoming on Saturday.
- Quarterback Hauss Hejny made his second career start and first as a Ram finishing with 214 yards pass including five touchdowns along side 39 yards rushing and one reception for 28 yards.
- The five touchdown passes matched a program record for TDs in an opener and was the first time since Todd Centio threw for five touchdowns in any game in 2021 against Hawaii.Â
- A favorite target of Hejny's on the day was transfer receiver RJ Vick. He led the rams with six catches for 75 yards and three touchdowns. The longest a 57-yard strike to put distance between the Cowboys and Rams.Â
- Vick is the first Ram since Tory Horton to record three touchdown receptions in a game. Horton did so against Utah Tech in 2023.Â
- The Rams finished the game +4 in the turnover margin picking off three passes and ending it with a strip sack. CSU's offense did not turn the ball over.Â
- Saturday was the first time CSU had picked off three or more passes since the opening game of Canvas Stadium against Oregon State (Aug. 26, 17)
- Colorado State's o-line allowed no sack and only four QB hurries all game. They were key in putting the game away as CSU ran for 96 yards in the second half and held the ball for 12:12 of the final 15 minutes.Â
- A total of 17 Rams made their first start for CSU on Saturday. Ten on offense and seven on defense. Offensive lineman Philip Ocon was the only hold over on that side of the ball.Â
- A pair of Rams finished the game with double figure tackles in Jaseim Mitchell and Oumar Diomande. They each had 11 with Mitchell adding in a QB hurry and Diomande grabbing one of CSU's three interceptions.Â
- Head coach Jim Mora became the first coach to win his debut game for Colorado State since Mike Bobo in 2015.
- A program record 40,548 people watched CSU reclaim the Bronze Boot on Saturday. 17,573 students filled Canvas Stadium, also a program record.Â
