Whitney Cloer
Whitney Cloer joined the Colorado State softball coaching staff in September 2016. As an assistant coach, Cloer works primarily with the team’s hitting, infield, and catchers. She also handles a large portion of the team’s scouting and recruiting.
 
During her tenure in Fort Collins she has helped produce 13 All-Mountain West honorees, including a Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year with Haley Hutton in 2017 and Player of the Year with Amber Nelson in 2019. In addition to conference awards, Cloer also assisted in developing nine NFCA All-Region nods. In her first season, slugger Hannah McCorkhill earned third team honors, while Corina Gamboa and Sarah Muzik earned spots in 2018. Most recently, she coached a program record six All-Region honorees in 2019.
 
In 2019 she help the Rams to new heights as they won their second Mountain West Conference title after voted to finish seventh in the preseason poll. During the season Colorado State won 20-consecutive games, including a perfect record in the month of March and upsetting then-No. 16 Oklahoma State. CSU also led the the country in doubles per game after knocking 103 during the season and hit 63 home runs - the third most in program history. The Rams dominated in league play in 2019, winning a program record seven series, including sweeping the first three - which included Fresno State for the first time in program history.

In each of her seasons with the Rams, she has helped improve both the offense and defense. In 2018, she helped guide CSU to one of its best starts in program history with a perfect 7-0 record – its best start since 1997. During the season, the Rams also won four conference series – most since 2014 – including recording a shutout at Fresno State for the first time in program history.
 
Cloer came to CSU after serving as the assistant coach and assistant general manager for the Scrap Yard Dawgs of National Pro Fastpitch. Her roles included coaching players and managing player personnel. She also aided in signing Monica Abbott to a six-year, $1 million contract which was believed to be the largest by an American female athlete in a professional franchise at the time.
 
Prior to working for the Scrap Yard Dawgs, Cloer was an assistant coach at Troy University for one season and helped the Trojans to a 32-23 record – 10 more wins than the season prior. She also increased Troy’s conference record by nine wins and nearly doubled its home runs and doubles totals. Two of the biggest improvements Cloer assisted in was improving the Trojans batting average from a .215 to a .260 mark and their slugging percentage from .312 to a .433 average.
 
Cloer started her coaching career in 2011 as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater Arkansas before heading to Big 12 powerhouse Oklahoma as a volunteer assistant coach in 2013. While in Norman, the Sooners were Big 12 Champions and went on to play in the Women’s College World Series. She was also part of the NFCA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year.
 
Cloer was a standout catcher at Arkansas from 2005-09, starting 215 games in her career, including every game during her sophomore and senior years. She finished her career as an offensive focal point, totaling a .335 batting average with 54 hits, 37 RBI and 10 home runs during her senior season. During her time as a Razorback, Cloer earned four varsity letters and served as team captain her junior and senior seasons.
 
Born in Edmond, Okla., Cloer graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2009 with a bachelor’s of science in kinesiology before earning her master’s in exercise science in 2012.
