Football (1996 to 1999)
Kevin McDougal brought with him a family legacy as a Ram as his father, Mike, played for CSU in the late 1960s, and his brother, Matt, was a kicker and punter on the famed 1994 WAC championship team. Kevin arrived as a safety in his freshman year and left CSU the fourth-best rusher in school history with 3,067 yards. “Big Mac,” as he was known to fans, barreled over his opponents with brute force, allowing him to set the school record for yards per attempt at 5.97 upon his graduation. He helped guide CSU to conference championships in 1997 and 1999, racked up 1,223 yards in his senior year and 13 career 100-yard rushing games. It was the 1999 season when McDougal earned his greatest achievements including Liberty Bowl MVP, Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year and the National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award.
After his 2000 graduation, McDougal played two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and returned to Fort Collins where he and his wife live. He has remained an important part of the CSU and Fort Collins community since his return after the NFL.
