After posting a record of 6-1-1 at home to start the fall season, the Colorado State softball team wrapped up its fall slate with a 2-2 showing at the University of Nebraska Tournament to bring the team's overall mark to 8-3-1 this fall.

"We competed against some great teams and we played really good softball overall," said head coach Mary Yori. "We got some great pitching from Kim (Klabough) and Jessica (Strickland). They both had some outstanding efforts to keep us in some close games."

The Rams began the fall season swinging hot bats as the team recorded 13-0, 8-3 and 10-1 victories over Montana State-Billings, CSU-Pueblo and Regis, respectively in the Triple Crown/CSU Fall Tournament. The Rams then claimed the top spot in the tournament with a 1-0 victory over Northern Colorado.

The Rams then played host to Nebraska and Utah for the CSU Fall Tournament, Oct. 1-2. Colorado State opened up the tournament by extending its winning streak to five games with a 2-0 victory over the Huskers. However, the Rams were unable to shake the Utah Utes loose in the team's next game, playing to a 2-2 tie. The Rams bounced back to pick up a 3-2 win over the Utes in the third game of the tournament, before dropping a 9-0 decision to the Huskers.

The Rams then traveled to Lincoln, Neb., for the Nebraska Fall Tournamen+t where the team dropped two close decisions in a row to the Canadian National Team (1-0) and the defending National Champions, Michigan (2-1). However, the Rams did not quit, ending the fall season with back-to-back victories over Creighton by scores of 2-1 and 6-5.

"Our fall was really successful in terms of gaining a lot of experience," added Yori. "That will be a good confidence builder going into the spring."

The Rams will now begin preparation for the spring season, opening in just four months. The Rams will begin the Spring season against New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M., on Feb. 9. Colorado State will then play four straight tournaments beginning with the Hilton Las Cruces Classic (Feb. 10-12), the Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. (Feb. 17-19) and the Aztec Invitational (Feb. 22-26) before its home opener during the CSU Spring Tournament March 4-5.
