Colorado State’s most accomplished softball coach set to retire

FORT COLLINS, Colo.  – The Colorado State softball coach with the most wins in program history, alumna and Fort Collins native Jen Fisher, announced her retirement on Wednesday evening. Fisher leaves CSU after 16 years of mentoring softball student-athletes and picking up 376 wins along the way.

"I want to congratulate coach Jen Fisher on a tremendous career and thank her for all that she has done for the softball program, athletic department, university and community," Director of Athletics John Weber said. "Jen is a Stalwart Ram through and through. I want to wish her and her husband Joe the best in their next step in life."

Coach Fisher led the softball program, mentoring student athletes for the past 16 years. She guided CSU Softball to the 2019 Mountain West Conference regular season championship and earned Colorado State's first NCAA Tournament invitation since 2003 that year, too.

Coach Fisher's leadership has also guided two Mountain West Conference Player of the Year selections, a Defensive Player of the Year and 55 All-Conference honors. Fisher was a two-time Mountain West Coach of the Year honoree and with 376 victories, Coach Fisher leaves as Colorado State's most accomplished softball coach in program history.

"Words cannot express my gratitude to my Alma Mater, Colorado State, the great leadership that supported & guided me, and all of the students who called me 'Coach'. The past 16 years coaching the team in my hometown have been incredible. Fort Collins is such a special place to me." Fisher said. "I will greatly miss coaching softball and these amazing athletes, as they have allowed me to bring my passion and energy to the field each day. This has kept me young and made me feel as though my job was not really 'work' but rather a calling. I will also deeply miss all the incredible folks in the department & across campus whom I had the honor of working with each day.  CSU is such a special place because of the people!

I'm very much looking forward to spending more time with my family & my extended family, which includes all of my former student-athletes and assistant coaches. I'm confident that this administration and this wonderful university will continue to support women in pursuing their dreams & doing great things."

CSU will immediately begin a nationwide search for the next head softball coach.
