Rams Softball Televised On CSTV

The San Diego State vs. Colorado State softball doubleheader to be held at SDSU Softball Stadium in San Diego, Calif., on May 8th will be televised live nationally on CSTV, the Mountain West Conference announced today.
Game one of the doubleheader is scheduled for a 1 p.m. Pacific Time start, with the second game set to begin at 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Beth Mowins will handle the play-by-play duties, while Ann Schatz will handle the analyst duties and Stacey Nuveman will be the sideline reporter for the two-game set, which features the previous two Mountain West Conference softball regular-season champions (San Diego State in 2003 and Colorado State in 2004).
Colorado State (26-16 overall, 6-4 MWC) captured its first-ever MWC regular season crown in 2004, as well as its first 40-win season since 1997 (51 wins). The Rams will be led by 2004 Mountain West Freshman of the Year Jessica Strickland, and 2004 all-MWC picks Kerry Farrell (senior, catcher) and Stephanie Roberts (senior, second baseman). The Rams captured the MWC Tournament crown and advanced to their first NCAA Tournament appearance as members of the Mountain West in 2003.
San Diego State, winners of two out of the last three regular season championships (2002 and 2003), is currently 23-21 overall (1-9 in MWC play) this season. The Aztecs have advanced to the championship game of the MWC Softball Tournament four consecutive seasons and are two-time NCAA Tournament participants (2001 and 2003). SDSU head coach Kathy Van Wyk leads an Aztec squad that features two-time MWC Pitcher of the Year Celena Velasquez and 2004 all-MWC team member Meagan Hartung (junior, infielder).
This will be the Rams? first natiionally-televised appearance under head coach Mary Yori. Colorado State swept the Aztecs earlier this season in the Rams? home-opener at Ram Field on April 1. The Rams shutout the Aztecs 2-0 in game one, followed by a 6-2 decision in game two.
