Softball Ends Season With Loss To UNLV

San Diego, Calif. ? The Colorado State softball team was knocked out of the Mountain West Conference Tournament by the No. 2 ranked UNLV Rebels late on Friday night in San Diego, Calif. The Rams end the season with a record of 30-22, following the 4-0 defeat to the Rebels.

The Rams offense could produce only two hits in the game, and fell behind early. UNLV posted three runs in the first inning and one more in the fifth inning, hilighted by two solo home runs by freshman Marissa Nichols.

Junior JayCee Wood got the loss for the Rams and fell to 3-5 on the season. Wood allowed three runs on three runs on five hits in just 0.2 innings of work. Sophomore Jessica Strickland pitched 5.1 innings in relief of Wood and allowed one run on two hits and struck out four batters.

Strickland also recorded one of the Rams? two hits, finishing the game 1-for-3. Junior Jennifer Gardner recorded the other single by the Rams in the final frame and finished the game 1-for-2 from the plate.

UNLV and BYU will square off for the conference crown tomorrow afternoon.
