Women's Tennis Falls to No. 48 Denver

The Colorado State women's tennis team fell to No. 48 Denver, 6-1, despite winning the doubles point. The Rams are now 8-8 on the season.
Emily Kirchem and Anne Andersen defeated Rachel Sackmaster and Suzana Maksovic at No. 1 in an 8-3 match. Kirchem and Andersen are now 12-4 in dual doubles play. Jessica Jones and Jasmin Singh won at No. 3 by defeating Kaja Smole and Kyla Iwinski, 8-4, to clinch the doubles point.
In singles play, the Rams were not as successful. No. 94 Kirchem fell to No. 89 Maksovic at No.1 singles in a tough 7-5, 7-6 (7-3), match. Denver's Annnette Aksdal defeated Andersen at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (8). Lauren Strasburger, No.3; Carla Pallares, No.4; Singh, No. 5; and Sarah Seltsam, No. 6, all lost in straight sets at her respective singles position.
"We are pleased with our doubles effort, and it has been consistanly good all year," said Coach Jon Messick.
The Rams continue play on Saturday as they host the Wyoming Cowgirls at 1:00 p.m at the Miramont Sport Center outdoor courts.
