Box Score

The Colorado State University softball team (24-21, 4-11 MWC) fell in game one of a conference doubleheader to the BYU Cougars in Provo, Utah.

The Rams were out-hit by a 9-7 margin, and were only able to score one run in the first game against BYU.

The Cougars jumped on the board early with a solo home run by Neta Lei in the second inning to give them a 1-0 lead.

The Rams responded, scoring in the top of the third inning. Senior Tara Harbert led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a ground-out by sophomore Lauren Cusick, before Julia Kloppe notched an RBI-single to plate Harbert.

However, a solo home run by BYU's Adrea Ramirez in the bottom of the third pushed the Cougars ahead, 2-1, and the Rams were unable to generate any more runs.

The Rams and Cougars are set to square off in the second game of the doubleheader. Results from the nightcap will be available later tonight.
