Ram Tennis Falls to No. 34 San Diego State

The Colorado State women's tennis team fell to No. 34 San Diego State, 5-2, today in San Diego, Calif. The Rams are now 9-9 in dual play and 2-3 in Mountain West Conference play.
Despite losing the doubles point, the Rams kept the Aztecs on their toes by not allowing them to win until the fifth singles match, the No. 3 position, finished. Lauren Strasburger took Milana Yuspuov to three sets, but lost, 7-6, 6-7, 6-2, at No. 3 singles. Anne Andersen defeated Alesya Vidov at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, to score one team point. Jasmin Singh scored the other Rams' point by beating Yuki Hagiwara at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles play, Singh and Jessica Jones defeated Hagiwara and Esther Cadua at No. 3, 8-5.
"It was an outstanding effort on the whole team," said Coach Jon Messick.
"I thought for us to come out and play them on their courts and to have a chance to win the match was tremendous. It literally went down to the last two matches."
The Rams face UNLV on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. PT.
