COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State freshman Ashley Munoz and sophomore right-hander Kim Klabough have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Munoz, a Diamond Bar, Calif., native, led the Rams to a 3-1 showing at New Mexico to close conference play. She posted a batting average of .455 (5-for-11) over the four games, bringing her average in conference games to .429. She also posted a slugging percentage of 1.182 over the weekend, adding two more home runs to her season total and tying the single-season record at Colorado State with 14. Munoz, who was recently named MWC Freshman of the Year, entered the weekend on a 12-game hitting streak and recorded a hit in three of the four contests. She also tied a career-high with two walks in the only game in which she did not record a hit. Her 13-game hitting streak tied for the season-best by a Colorado Sta te player. In her final two games of the season, Munoz hit .667 (4-for-6) with five runs scored and four RBI, two home runs and one double. She also contributed defensively, posting a .900 fielding percentage and throwing out the would-be tying run at the plate for the final out in the bottom of the eighth inning of the Rams' 6-5 victory in the third game of the series.

Klabough, hailing from Sierra Vista, Ariz., went 2-0 for the Rams, pitching two complete games against New Mexico, including a shutout victory in the final game of the weekend. Klabough allowed just nine hits, while striking out 11 batters in 12.0 innings of work. She gave up just four earned runs in the two games and improved to 12-10 on the season. The shutout victory was the ninth of her career, moving Klabough into the top-five in the Rams' career records in just her second year.
