The Rams vs. Utah...
The Rams are 35-51 all-time against the Utes. Since the MWC was formed in 2000, the Rams have a 15-13 advantage over Utah. The Rams split the first series of the season against the Utes on April 19th and 20th, losing 8-4 in the first game and winning 20-5 in six innings in the second game.
The Rams vs. BYU...
The Cougars have a slim advantage over the Rams all-time, 13-17. In MWC play the Cougars also hold a 16-11 edge against the Rams. The Rams lost both games to BYU earlier in the season, 10-6 and 10-3.
Schedule Change...
The games against the New Mexico Lobos, which were postponed April 7-8, have been rescheduled. The Rams will now play two double headers in Albuquerque, N.M. on May 11th & 12th. The double header on Friday, May, 11 begins at 5 p.m. MT. The first game of the double header on Saturday will begin at 12 p.m. MT. The Rams will be the home team for two of those contests.
Last Weekend...
Colorado State went 2-2 on their latest road trip against UNLV and SDSU this past weekend. The Rams swept the Rebels in their two game series (2-1 and 4-3) but lost both games to SDSU, 10-4 and 3-2 (8).
More Long Balls...
Colorado State continued to add to its home run total this past weekend by hitting four more home runs. The Rams enter Thursday's match-up with Utah with 64 round-trippers through 51 games. Colorado State's 64 home runs has set a team single-season record by surpassing the 2004 team which hit 58 home runs. If the Rams keep up the pace, they are on track to launch 74 out of the park this season. Currently, Colorado State is four homers away from tying the MWC record of 68 in a single season, held by BYU (2005) and eight home runs away from tying BYU's current record of 72 long balls in a season.
Home Run Queen...
Senior Brittany Huerta now has 32 home runs for her career, tying the Colorado State career-record. The record-tying home run came in the fifth inning in the final game of the series against Utah and tied former NFCA 1st Team All-American Sara Fredstrom (1995-98). Huerta's home run was a lead off home run that started a three-run fifth inning.
Strick-tly Business...
Jessica Strickland has left an indelible mark in the Rams record book. The senior from Lakewood, Colo. already ranks in the top-five on Colorado State's career records in 15 different categories including first in doubles and saves and pitching appearances (118). The table on the right is a breakdown of where Strickland ranks on the career top-five charts at Colorado State.
The .300 Club...
Four Rams boast batting averages of .300 or better so far this season. Freshman Allison Majam leads the Rams with a batting average of .364 and junior Lauren Cusick is not far behind with a batting average of .333. Strickland and Munoz round out the top four hitting .308 and .304, respectively.
Outscoring the Opposition...
Through 51 games, Colorado State has outscored its opponents 237-227. The majority of the Rams' damage has been done in the third and sixth inning where CSU has scored 42 and 51 runs, respectively. Opponents have scored 35 percent of their runs (81) in the first inning (42) and seventh innings (39) against the Rams.
Streaking...
Freshman Ashley Munoz enters this weekend's matchups with Utah and BYU riding a 9 game hitting streak. She is four games shy of tying Lauren Cusick's season-high hitting streak of 13 games. Senior Jessica Strickland is not far behind Munoz with a current hitting streak of seven games.
Off and Running...
Colorado State's offense so far this season has hit a conference leading 76 doubles. Strickland leads the team with 14 so far. Allison Majam and junior Lauren Cusick are tied for second on the ream with 12 each. The Rams also have five triples on the season. Cusick leads the team with three and senior Brittany Huerta has the other two.
Freshman Fury...
Freshman outfielder Ashley Munoz leads the Rams in conference-play, hitting .457 (16-for-35) in 12 games played. Munoz also has three doubles, four home runs and nine RBI in those 12 games. This past weekend, Munoz went 6-for-13, hitting .462 with a home run.
In Good Company...
