CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - The Colorado State softball team (4-1) won its final game of the Cathedral City Kickoff in extra innings against UC Riverside (1-4) to improve to 4-1 to begin the season.

"This was a really big win, to be able to come back." said Head Coach Mary Yori.  "Our team showed a lot of heart to fight back and finish strong."

After giving up five runs in the first three innings, the Rams got on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run home run by senior Julia Kloppe to score freshman Caitlan Stem from third.

The Rams added to those two runs in the sixth inning when sophomore Ashley Munoz singled up the middle to lead off the inning and advanced to third on two wild pitches.  Sophomore Allison Majam walked to place runners at first and third and both Munoz and Majam scored on a double by Kloppe.

Kloppe came through once again in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and Munoz on second. She singled to score Munoz from second and tie the game at five.

In the top of the eighth, UC Riverside scored on a one out single by Katie Curtis to score Stephanie Marshall from third.

Colorado State answered in the bottom of the eighth.  Robyn Mask doubled to score sophomore Sarah Sullivan from second.  Freshman Ivory Allen bunted Mask over to third.  With two outs, senior Lauren Cusick doubled down the left field line to score Mask from third and win the game.
