SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Colorado State softball team won its first game of the Capital Classic against Nevada, but fell to No. 8/11 Oklahoma in the second game. The Rams are now 14-4 on the season entering Saturday's games.

In the first game of the day, Colorado State wasted no time scoring the first run of the game in the top of the first. Sophomore Ashley Munoz doubled with two outs and scored on the single by senior Julia Kloppe.

Nevada answered in the bottom half of the inning with three runs of its own. With the bases loaded, Kelsey Starr doubled to right center to score two and give the Wolfpack a 2-1 lead. One more run would cross the plate on a bases-loaded walk to give the Wolfpack a 3-1 lead.

The Rams didn't score another run until the top of the fourth inning. With two runs already in the inning and two outs, senior Lauren Cusick doubled down the left-field line to score sophomore Robyn Mask, who reached on a fielder's choice earlier in the inning.

Colorado State added to its 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth when Kloppe homered to right center to lead off the inning. Sophomore Kayla Kreutzman scored on a single by Mask to give the Rams a 6-3 lead after five.

Sophomore Rebecca Penland shut the door on the Woflpack in the top of the sixth with her three-run home run to give the Rams a 10-3 lead.

Kloppe went 3-for-4 in the game with a home run and two RBI.

Senior Cayte Billman started the game for the Rams in the circle and pitched 0.2 innings before Penland came in for relief. Penland surrendered only three hits in her 6.1 innings.

In the second game, Oklahoma took the early lead in the top of the first inning with a three-run home run from Traci Dickenson.

The Rams got on the board in the bottom half of the inning when freshman Caitlan Stem hit a solo shot to right field to cut the Sooners' lead to 3-1.

After giving up two more runs in the top of the third, the Rams answered with three runs to put them down one. Stem hit her second home run in as many at-bats and three batters later, sophomore Allison Majam homered to center field with Kloppe on first.

The Sooners would score eight more unanswered runs to give them the 13-4 victory in six innings.

Stem finished the game 3-for-3 with two home runs, both solo, and two RBI. Junior Kim Klabough started in the circle for Colorado State and threw 4.2 innings before Penland came in for relief.
