FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State women's tennis team will play host to Wyoming Friday at 12 p.m. at Fossil Creek Park before traveling to Colorado Springs to play Air Force. The Rams are fighting for the No. 7 seed in the Mountain West Conference tournament, which begins next week.

The Rams (7-10, 0-6 MWC) ended a seven-match losing streak with a sweep of Northern Colorado Wednesday. The victory marked the first time the Rams were able to capture a 7-0 win since March 18.

In need of wins over Wyoming and Air Force to earn the No. 7 seed, the Rams will call on their top players.

Caitlin Fluegge picked up her 16th overall and 10th dual-match victories over Northern Colorado. Leading the team in both categories, she is one of six Ram players in double-digit wins.

Laura Neal and Anette Pohjalainen have won their past two doubles matches competing at the No. 2 spot. The duo brings eight wins into Friday's match, which is second highest on the team.

Leading the team in doubles wins are Sarah Seltsam and Kirsten Stople, who have teamed up for 10 victories on the season.

The Cowgirls (10-11, 1-6 MWC) enter the match having earned similar results against conference opponents. Wyoming is currently on a losing skid, dropping its past six conference matches. The team is led by Michelle Brown and Rebecca Berger, who combine for 31 singles wins. Brown and Corina Lazar lead the Cowgirls in doubles victories with 11 overall. The Rams hold the advantage in the all-time series record, with an 11-4 mark.

"We've had tough matches the past few years,"said Messick. "Wyoming will be a very competitive match and both teams are excited to play."

Air Force Academy (5-15, 0-7 MWC) has struggled recently, dropping its past seven matches. The team is led by Sarah Cassman, who holds 17 singles wins, and Christen Monreal, who has 16. In last season's match up, the Rams earned a 6-1 win in Fort Collins to pick up their first conference victory of 2007. The Rams hold a 12-5 record against the Falcons all time.

"Air Force is always tough at the Academy," commented Messick. "We've done well against them in the past, but they always play hard and get the most out of their players."
