Coach with extensive experience is fifth to lead Rams

FORT COLLINS – Coming with previous experience as a head coach and an extensive background covering three decades of mentoring young players, Blake Mosley has been named the fifth head coach of the Colorado State women's tennis team.

Mosley is making a short move north after his second assistant stint at Colorado (a total of six seasons). He previously was the head coach at both Appalachian State (2017-21) and Chaminade (2007-12).

"We are thrilled to welcome Blake and his wife, Aline, and their daughter, Zoe, to Fort Collins. He joins us with an impressive track record of strong results in the West, as well as a well-earned reputation in building teams and helping individuals improve and achieve their goals," Director of Athletics John Weber said. "It was our intention to find a coach with his resume, and we are excited to have Blake lead Colorado State women's tennis into the Pac-12."

Improved results have been a trademark of his career. At Appalachian State, he guided the Mountaineers to their first Sun Belt regular-season championship and the program's first national ranking, being named the conference coach of the year in 2019. While at Chaminade, he was named the ITA West Region Coach of the Year in 2010.

After a successful playing career at the College of Charleston (B.S., Biology, 1996), he played professionally in US and Europe. He began his road in coaching as a club professional and additionally serving as an assistant at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. From there, he had his first shot to run a program at Chaminade, then spent a season assisting a Santa Clara team which was the conference regular season co-champions .

It was after that year when the native of Riverside, Calif., first went to Colorado, which eventually led him to App State. After one year as an assistant at Oklahoma, he would eventually return to Boulder in 2023. At every stop, he mentored all-conference performers, both on the courts and in the classroom, as well as players who have entered the national rankings and won ITA tournament titles.

"First, I'd like to thank John Weber and his staff for trusting my vision to move forward with this program. I'm ecstatic to take the lead moving into the Pac-12 and take it as far as we can," Mosley said. "I think everything is in place academically and athletically to take us to the top of the Pac-12 and into the national rankings."

The foundation of teams he has coached has been built on player development, doing so in a positive learning environment. It's his belief it is a proven route for progression for the players and the overall team dynamic, which in turn curates a continued love of a game which he says has blessed him and his family.

Mosley takes over a Colorado State team with seven returning players, including all-conference doubles player Sorcha Caves. The Rams have built a streak of eight successive campaigns with a doubles team earning all-conference honors.
