Rams softball splits exhibition doubleheader with Bears

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State and Northern Colorado each grabbed a victory during the exhibition doubleheader at Ram Field on Saturday.
The Bears defeated the Rams 8-7 in the first game, but Colorado State bounced back in the second game for a 10-2 (5) victory.
The Rams held a 7-5 lead heading into the top of the seventh inning of Game 1, but couldn’t secure the victory. The Bears scored three runs in the inning and held the Rams in the bottom half of the inning to take the 8-7 victory.
Colorado State recorded 10 runs on 14 hits in the second game and held Northern Colorado to three hits.
Junior Caitlan Stem and sophomore Christine Thomsen each recorded a two-run home run, the only homers of the day for the Rams.
Colorado State concludes fall exhibition play Saturday, Oct. 10, against the Colorado State alumnae. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. at Ram Field.
