FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State tennis program announced Wednesday the addition of two new recruits for the 2010-11 season, Lauren Pick and Kaley Schultz. Head Coach Jon Messick made the announcement.

Pick, an Albuquerque, N. M., native, comes to CSU ranked fourth in the New Mexico Southwest Division, playing for Albuquerque Academy. During her four years competing at the high school level, Pick, the No.1 player at Albuquerque Academy since 2006, is a two-time all-city champion, two-time Metro Player of the Year and a two-time female junior Player of the Year in New Mexico. She also is a three-time 4A New Mexico state high school singles champion.

"Lauren Pick is one of the best players in the Southwest section," Messick said. "She is a three-star recruit. Out of any players we have ever recruited, I think she has got a lot of potential. She is a very athletic, hard-working player."

Schultz hails from Poway, Calif., where she has competed the past four years for Poway High School in the Palomar League. During the 2009 season, Schultz earned a perfect record in the Palomar League in singles, going 24-0 with a 31-1 overall record for the season. Schultz is a three-time Poway MVP, 2008 Player of the Year and Palomar League doubles champion. As the 2009 team captain, Schultz comes to CSU ranked 199th nationally.

"Kaley Schultz is probably one of the only players we have ever been able to recruit out of California," Messick said. "There are a lot of really good players in California and we were just really pleased to get one of the better players in the state to come to Colorado State. It is good progress for our program. I think Schultz is a higher-caliber player than we have gotten in the past."

Schultz has also excelled in the classroom, maintaining a 3.95 GPA and receiving first-team all-academic honors. Schultz will major in apparel merchandising at CSU.

"They are both very good players out of high school and they are both good students," Messick said. "We are looking forward to having both of those girls for four years."
