RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Colorado State softball team (3-4) lost its first game of the aTEN Construction Tournament to the University of Tulsa, 4-1, Friday at Amy S. Harrison Field.

The Rams allowed a run in the third and fourth innings, but cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth when sophomore Caitlan Stem singled to score junior Robyn Mask, who reached on a fielder’s choice earlier in the inning.

Tulsa pushed two more runs across the plate in the top of the sixth inning to take a 4-1 lead.

Stem led the Rams at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with the team’s only RBI.

Freshman Kelli Eubanks (1-1) received the start in the circle for Colorado State and threw her first collegiate complete game. She struck out seven Golden Hurricane batters while only allowing one walk.

Due to the threat of adverse weather conditions, Colorado State began its second tournament game, but it was halted after two innings of play. The Rams have a 2-0 lead over UC Riverside, but the Highlanders are threatening with bases loaded in the bottom of the second with no outs. The game will resume Saturday, at 10 a.m. MST.

Colorado State will play San Diego after the conclusion of the first game, and will conclude the tournament Sunday in a rematch against Tulsa at 11 a.m. MST.
