CSU tennis sustains loss to No. 28 Horned Frogs

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - - The Colorado State women's tennis team (5-11, 0-5 MWC) lost to the TCU Horned Frogs (11-9, 5-1 MWC) on Friday, 7-0. The Rams traveled to Albuquerque, N.M., to take on the 28th-ranked team in the nation but fell in Mountain West Conference play.

In doubles, TCU swept the Rams in all three positions, and entered singles play with a 1-0 advantage. At the No. 1 position, Anna Sydorska and Katariina Tuohimaa defeated Laura Neal and Lauren Strasburger, 8-4.

Kayla Duncan and Idunn Hertzberg earned a victory against Tori Arneson and Caitlin Fluegge at No. 2, 8-3. At No. 3, Gaby Mastromarino and Maria Babanova defeated Greer Satherlie and Kirsten Stople, 8-3.

In singles, CSU's Laura Neal went to a second-set tiebreaker with Tuohimaa but was defeated 6-1, 7-6 (3). At the No. 6 position, Caitlin Fluegge had a back-and-forth battle with Maria Babanova for two solid sets but fell 6-3, 6-1.

The Rams continue their fight in Albuquerque Saturday, when they will face off with New Mexico at 11 a.m. MDT.
