CSU tennis ends third weekend of conference play

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - - The Colorado State women's tennis team (5-12, 0-6 MWC) ended its third weekend of conference play in Albuquerque, N.M. The Rams dropped the match on Saturday to the Lobos, 5-2.
In doubles, New Mexico (9-13, 4-4 MWC) won all three positions, and entered singles play with a 1-0 advantage. At No. 1, Lauren Strasburger and Laura Neal battled it out with Ola Abou-Zekry and Emma Hayman in a close match. Strasburger/Neal fell 8-6.
In singles, the Rams and the Lobos fought back and forth for each point. At No. 2, Strasburger was able to take Mackenzie White into three strong sets. Strasburger was unable to maintain her momentum and was defeated 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
At No. 4, Greer Satherlie added a victory for the Rams defeating Ashley Bonner, 6-3, 6-3. Her teammate Kirsten Stople, playing at the No. 5 position, followed in her footstep by earning a victory against Anya Villanueva-Forte in a see-saw match, 7-6, 2-6, 10-4.
The Rams return to the court April 14 when they travel to Laramie, Wyo. in a border war match against the Wyoming Cowgirls. The match will begin at 1 p.m. MDT.
