FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State tennis concluded its first tournament of the year, the BYU Invitational, Saturday morning with a bid for the victory in the “B” flights backdraw finals.

Junior Caitlin Fluegge earned her way into the semifinals Friday afternoon with a victory over Kristina Voyteskhovich of Utah State, 6-1, 6-3, setting up a match between Fluegge and Romina Nedakovic of BYU. Teammates Kim Van Ginkel and Alexandra Kovacs of Wyoming were set to duel in the second semifinals matchup, but due to Wyoming’s unexpected absence, Fluegge and Nedakovic were sent to the finals matchup.

Fluegge battled Nedakovic Saturday morning, trying to earn the Rams a victory in the “B” flights backdraw finals, but Fluegge fell in three sets to Nedakovic, 6-3, 5-7, 7-6.

“It was a great match Caitlin played in,” Head Coach Jon Messick said. “She played the best tennis of her career and I felt she grew as a tennis player in that match. Overall the whole tournament was good for us.”
