Tennis honored with ITA academic awards

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women’s tennis program, as well as three individuals, have been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for work in the classroom in addition to their success on the court.
CSU was one of 141 programs recognized nationally and one of six Mountain West teams to qualify, joining Boise State, Fresno State, New Mexico, San José State and UNLV. The Rams have won the team award for the fourth time in the past five years, posting a cumulative GPA above 3.20 during the 2013-14 academic year.
"I am proud of the way our team sets academics as a high priority," commented CSU head coach Jon Messick.
In addition to the team recognition three student-athletes – sophomore Maddie Buxton, junior Natalie Heffron and senior Lauren Pick – earned individual honors as ITA Scholar Athletes, having lettered for the Rams while maintaining grade-point average of 3.5 or higher over at least two semesters at CSU. It’s Heffron and Pick’s third consecutive year winning the award, while Buxton makes the list for the second straight season.
