Box Score: PDF | HTML FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State women's soccer team fell to the UNLV Rebels, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon in a Mountain West matchup at The Lagoon.

CSU (3-8-1, 1-3-0 MW) outshot UNLV, 17-12, over the duration of the match and had six shots on goal as opposed to four for the Rebels. However, the Rebels (10-3-0, 3-1-0 MW) scored on their only shot on goal in the first half and notched their second goal early in the second half to seal the result.

The beginning of Sunday's match was highlighted by physical play, as there were two yellow cards given out in the first 10 minutes. CSU had success in keeping the UNLV offense in check early, as the Rams fired six shots before UNLV registered its first shot in the 19th minute.

The Rams held advantages in shots (11-5) and shots on goal (5-1) in the first half, but the Rebels' lone shot on goal in that period found the back of the net. UNLV leading scorer Lily Sender was the goal scorer, recording her seventh of the season in the 23rd minute as the Rebels took a 1-0 lead to halftime.

The Rebels scored again shortly after halftime to extend their lead to 2-0. Dakota Blazak accounted for the goal, beating CSU goalkeeper Paige Brandt with a shot inside the right post in the 58th minute. The Rams took three of the final four shots down the stretch, but were unable to cut into UNLV's lead by the end of 90 minutes.

Brandt (1-4-1), who had two saves on Sunday, was charged with the loss after allowing UNLV's two goals. Taylor Nelson had a team-high three shots, while Kaija Ornes and Jessica Jochheim took two shots apiece. UNLV goalkeeper Jordan Sallee (7-2-0) was credited with a win after making six saves.

IN THEIR WORDS
Colorado State head coach Bill Hempen
"UNLV was opportunistic. I thought we were doing fine in the first half. The second half went right in the tank for us. It is what it is. We'll be back to training on Tuesday to try to fix as many things as we can, and play next weekend two times."

NOTES
