On the final day, Prendergast brought her A-game, recording a -3 after the first four holes as the senior carded three-straight birdies. She continued her strong outing on the ninth hole, dropping in an eagle to make the turn with a -5. In the back, she continued to perform, tallying four more birdies to close the day with a team-best 65 (-7). Ellen Secor also had a strong showing, making the turn with a -2 and would go on to hold that card to finish with a -2.
Colorado State will head to the Coeur D'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational hosted by Gonzaga Sept. 26-27 in Coeur D'Alene Idaho.
COACH YOUNG ON…
Opening the season with the Ram Classic…
"I was really impressed with how they performed. They came out ready to play, but we had a few hiccups along the way but it was the first tournament of the season so sometimes you get that. Overall I am proud of their effort. They battled hard and the work they're putting in is starting to pay off and it is exciting to start the season with a couple of really good rounds."
Katrina Prendergast's performance…
"I think she did a good job. Starting the tournament with a 72 really could have been a 68. Often times when you find yourself carding a little higher than you should, the next day is very difficult to come back from and to keep the momentum going and she has had a great attitude. She had a little hiccup today on 14, but she bounced back with two straight birdies. That speaks a lot about her and her wiliness to fight out there and just battle. It is impressive how much she has gotten better over the years."
Ellen Secor's performance…
"I thought she did a good job. She left a few out there, had a couple of rough finishes every day, but she battles out there. She gives it all she can. She's a vocal leader and she inspires the team at times and sometimes it's a little different in golf, but it's fun. It's fun to see a different attitude out there and I really like this team and their attitude. It's just so different from what I've had since I've been at CSU. The desire to get better and they aren't satisfied.

The field is good. There will be Pac-12 teams and Big Ten teams there. So it is going to challenge us to see where we're at. The course is a typical resort course. It has the famous island green so that is going to be a lot of fun. It is going to be an enjoyable area to go to and I have never been up there. What I've heard it is a scorable course. It will be interesting and hopefully be able to make some birdies and continue this little run we've got going.
