Rams Fall In Border War To Wyoming, 34-21
10/27/2018 12:15:00 AM | Football
CSU unable to overcome 24 consecutive Cowboy points
The game was a tight battle at the break, with Wyoming holding a slim 3-0 lead in the defensive battle. However, the visitors posted three rushing touchdowns in the first 10 minutes of the third quarter to push out to a 24-0 lead. CSU traded scores the rest of the way, unable to significantly close the gap.
Junior running back Marvin Kinsey had a pair of rushing touchdowns to tie his career high, while sophomore quarterback Collin Hill--making his first start since Oct. 8, 2016--tallied the third score on the ground in the contest despite the team rushing for just 20 yards on the night. Hill finished the game completing 34-of-54 for 333 yards, with two interceptions.
IN THEIR WORDS...
"Congratulations to Wyoming and their football team. They won at every facet of the game today: Offense, defense and special teams. We talked about winning the turnover battle. We lost it 3-0. We talked about winning the game in the trenches. We were unable to do that tonight. We talked about winning on special teams and we did not do that." -- CSU head coach Mike Bobo's observations from the game
Â
"Coach said before the game, 'We just have to be patient.' It's not necessarily [about] our tempo, it was that we are not going to go down the field and score every time. When we do have to punt, it is okay. We'd rather do that than turn the ball over. He is saying being patient in that way and not trying to force things." -- Sophomore quarterback Collin Hill on the team's offensive mindset
