Brady tallies 16 points on 5-for-7 shooting along with seven rebounds off the bench to lead Rams past Falcons
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State junior forward Annie Brady scored a team-high 16 points to propel the Rams to a 61-50 victory over the Air Force Falcons in a Mountain West matchup on Wednesday night from Moby Arena.
Â
Brady tallied her 16 on 5-for-7 shooting, scoring 11 of those points in the third quarter. The Salt Lake City, Utah native added seven rebounds and finished with 18 minutes played off the bench. Freshman guard Jordyn Edwards joined Brady in double-figure scoring, scoring 10 points in her second career start along with three rebounds and two assists. Senior guard Hannah Tvrdy corralled six rebounds and also scored in the double digits, making 7-of-8 free throws en route to 13 points.
Â
For the game, Colorado State's (17-7, 9-4 MW) bench outscored the Air Force (2-20, 2-9 MW) bench, 28-0, as guards Lore Devos and Callie Kaiser scored six points each to add to Brady's bench production. Devos added a season/career-high 10 rebounds to her line. Colorado State also held advantages in field goal percentage, 43.8 percent to 32.1 percent, and in free throws made, 17 to 10.
Â
The two teams traded points back-and-forth in the first quarter, as the two teams played to a tied score twice and the lead changed hands four times. However, Colorado State never trailed by more than two points in that opening period, facing an 11-9 deficit at the latest with 3:10 on the clock. From there, CSU took the lead and never looked back, as threes from Stine Austgulen and Sofie Tryggedsson and a jumper by Devos powered an 8-0 run and gave the Rams a 17-11 lead heading to the second.
Â
Colorado State, which led for 34:18 on Wednesday, carried its first-quarter momentum into the second, extending that run to 18-0 to take their largest lead of the game, 27-11, at the 5:31 mark. CSU maintained that double-digit advantage until late in the fourth quarter, when Air Force cut its deficit to 57-50 with 1:12 to play. The Rams got stops on each Falcon possession from there and got four Tvrdy points over the final minute to seal the game at 61-50.
IN THEIR WORDS
Colorado State head coach Ryun Williams
"Air Force just wakes up feisty. They are a feisty team for 40 minutes. I think they're always hard to compete against. They put some athleticism out there in some spots and have got two good scorers in (Emily) Conroe and (Kaelin) Immel, so that was a good victory for us. They apply a lot of pressure on the ball, so if you're loose with the ball a little bit, they're going to make you pay, which they did a few times tonight. We found enough offense out there and got a really quality win. These two (Jordyn Edwards and Annie Brady) were quite special tonight. I think the big thing is the 28-0 (advantage) on bench points. That's impressive. I'm really proud of our bench."

On what is clicking for the team during its five-game win streak:
"I think we've had a lot of players step up. It's been different players every night, and that's what we need, especially this time of year when you've played each other so many times and you know how people play. People just step up and do more than they've been doing…we're getting better and keeping at it."
