FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State softball team continued the Colorado State Classic on Saturday and picked up another victory against St. John's, 5-1. CSU's second game against Idaho State was halted due to darkness. The Rams will resume both games that were halted Friday and Saturday on Sunday.

St. John's (5-14) scored the first run of the game in the opening frame after a double to right center allowed a run to score.
Colorado State (10-6) responded in the bottom half of the inning as the Rams loaded the bases with one out after a walk, single and hit by pitch. Hannah McCorkhill went ahead and cleared the bases with a two-out, three RBI double to right field before rounding second too far and getting tagged out. The two-bagger gave Colorado State a 3-1 lead.
Bridgette Hutton was on fire for the second-consecutive day, keeping St. John's at bay with 11 strikeouts. She recorded at least one out in every inning.
The Rams added another run in the bottom of the third after a walk by Haley Donaldson and a double by Corina Gamboa had runners in scoring position for Amber Nelson. The junior grounded out to the second baseman, but still managed to record the RBI with Donaldson scoring.
The Red Storm looked to cut into CSU's lead in the top of the fourth and sixth innings, putting runners in scoring position, but the Rams' defense kept SJU off the board the rest of the game to secure the victory.

Bridgette Hutton was dialed in for the second-consecutive day, throwing for another 11 strikeouts to tie her career high which she set on Friday night against Utah Valley. The junior allowed just one run and two walks in the seven inning game.

Colorado State will conclude the Colorado State Classic tomorrow with a games against Idaho State. The Rams will also resume games against St. John's and Idaho State, which were halted due to darkness.
