FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State women's golfers Katrina Prendergast and Ellen Secor will begin postseason play at the Austin Regional on May 7 at the University of Texas Golf Club. Rounds will start on Monday and run through Wednesday with 18 holes being played each day. The course is a par 72 and plays 6,341 yards.

The pair of Rams received at-large bids as they were selected as two of 24 individuals to advance to postseason play at the Austin Regional at the University of Texas Golf Club.

Prendergast will be making her third-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Regionals, receiving an at-large bid each of her years at Colorado State. In 2016 she was the first Ram since 2012 to make the NCAA Regionals, and finished in the top third of the West Regional. The freshman at the time carded a 10-over 223 and led the 96-player field one-third of the way through action (3-under 68).

Last season as a sophomore, she again finished in the upper-third of the NCAA Lubbock Regional. She moved up four spots during the final round to finish tied for 32nd with a six-over par 222, which ranked second among the six golfers competing as individuals. Her final score of 222 tied a school record, with Brianna Espinoza (2012).

The junior leads Colorado State this season with a 73.61 stroke average and has 10 finishes in the top-10 so far this season, including winning the UC Irvine Invitational.

Secor will be making her postseason debut after finishing her best regular season of her young career. The sophomore conclude the season with a 74.21 stroke average and finished with seven top-10 finishes, including a season-best second place finish at the Gold Rush with a one-under par 215. She began the season with a three-under par 213 at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, which was her best score of the season.

ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST TEAMS
Katrina Prendergast and Ellen Secor were named to the All-Mountain West teams the league office announced Friday, April 27. Prendergast was named to the first-team for her third accolade in as many seasons, (2nd team the previous two seasons.) Secor earned her first postseason conference award, earning second team All-Mountain West honors.

The pair finished in the top-at the Mountain West Championship, with Prendergast leading with a third place finish with an even-par 216 and Secor tied for fourth carding a one-over 217. Colorado State finished the Mountain West Championship in third place – the highest finish in nearly the last decade. The Rams finished round one of the championship in eighth place, but fought back moving to fifth after the second round and up two spots in the finale to finish the championship in third with a 31-over par 895 (306-295-294).

FOUR-BALL CHAMPIONS
Colorado State women's golfers Ellen Secor and Katrina Prendergast deleted a two-down deficit with just four holes left to play to win the 4th U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship – something that no other Ram has done, well, almost.

The duo joins Head Coach Annie Young, who knows the feeling of being a USGA champion, winning the 2002 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links title at Sunriver Resort in Oregon. She was also on the winning side of the 2004 USA Curtis Cup Team. Full story HERE.

The pair started the week at El Caballero Country Club and never trailed in the first four matches played – 66 holes of leading or being tied – to advance to the final. The duo blazed through the round of 32 with a 4 and 2, before playing 21 holes in the round of 16 to head to the quarterfinals. The CSU teammates continued to dominate with a two-up score before earning their way to the finals with a 3 and 2 in the semis.

In the finale, it was a back-and-forth battle as the score was all square nine different times with five lead changes. The Rams made the turn one-up before heading to the back course. After four holes it was back to all square and it was anyone's game. The Green and Gold pair dropped the next two holes to go down two with just four holes left to play.

The duo charged back, playing well under pressure, getting to all square after 16 before Prendergast converted a five-foot birdie putt on the par five 17th hole to retake a one-up lead. On the final hole, both Secor and Prendergast missed their birdie putts leaving the door open for extra holes, but soon after slammed the door to secure the championship.
