FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Head softball coach, Jen Fisher, announced the addition of two student-athletes to the 2019 roster on Tuesday.
Kaitlyn Cook and Taylor Gilmore will join the team following their final year of prep. They will join Mackenzee Collins, Brenna Scudellari, Brookelyn Polenz and Makenzie Marie Miller who signed letters of intent in November.

Kaitlyn Cook | Lincoln, Neb. | Lincoln Southeast HS | SS/3B
Cook comes to Colorado State after being a three-time Class-A all-state honorable mention recipient after lettering in softball for three-years. She was also earned the NCPA academic all-state award each of her prep years, including being a three-time Heartland Athletic Conference all-conference award winner. She was a two-time all-academic team winner, as well as a two-time Omaha World Herald All-Nebraska Class-A honorable mention honoree. Cook finished junior year being named to the all-city second team All-Star team.

Chose Colorado State because… "I came to a camp my junior year of high school and I immediately fell in love with the coaching staff and the team. I felt as if I was at a home away from home. I have always enjoyed traveling to Colorado for my summer softball team and was so happy to have the opportunity to call this amazing place home for the next four years."

Head Coach Fisher on Kaitlyn… "Kaitlyn Cook is a talented and versatile player, who swings a big bat. She has played club ball for one of the top programs in the region and will come in having some great experience. With her game knowledge and quick feet, look for her to play middle infield for the Rams. Kaitlyn has a grit about her that we anticipate will fit right in with our team chemistry, she also runs very well and will look to be a top of the order type of athlete."

Taylor Gilmore | Broomfield, Colo. | Broomfield HS | P/1B | Arizona
Gilmore will be a redshirt freshman entering Colorado State after transferring from Arizona. During high school she was a first-team all-state and Front Range Pitcher of the Year her senior year. She led her division with 22 victories, 143 inning pitched, 188 strikeouts and carried a 0.98 ERA with three no-hitters. She was a four-year first-team all-conference player, as she hurled her team to two league championships, three regional championships and a 2016 5A state runner-up finish. At the plate she hit 20 career home runs, including 13 doubles, seven homers and 31 RBI as a senior while slugging 1.342.

Chose Colorado State because… "I chose Colorado State because I love the coaching staff and I already know a few of the girls on the team from playing against them while growing up. I am truly excited I get to represent the state I was born and raised in. The campus and area is beyond beautiful and I can't wait to call Colorado State my home."

Head Coach Fisher on Taylor… "Taylor Gilmore will be a great addition to our pitching staff and will likely also compete offensively. She began pitching a little bit later in her club ball career, but developed into a dominant pitcher in our state. She has been coached by the best of the best and is certainly a hard-working and focused athlete who will fit in well with our team climate. We will look to draw upon the experiences that Taylor had last year, at one of the top programs in the nation and for her to make an immediate impact."
