Rams drop Wednesday night contest at Boise State, 70-57

Sophomore guard Lore Devos leads Rams with 19 points, senior forward Tatum Neubert scores 13

BOISE, Idaho – The Colorado State women's basketball team fell to the Boise State Broncos, 70-57, in a Wednesday night Mountain West contest from Taco Bell Arena.

Sophomore guard Lore Devos led Colorado State (7-12, 1-7 MW) with 19 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the floor and 3-for-4 shooting from the free throw line. Senior forward Tatum Neubert scored 13 points on 2-for-4 shooting and a 9-for-11 night from the foul line. Junior guard Mollie Mounsey tallied nine points for the Rams.

Boise State (16-3, 7-1 MW) took a 6-4 lead at the 7:07 mark in the first quarter and led the rest of the way, leading for 37:18 overall on Wednesday. Boise State's go-ahead basket at that point was part of a 13-2 run, as the Broncos extended their lead to 16-6 over the next four minutes. The Rams went without a field goal over that stretch, finally snapping that drought on a Devos jumper with 1:21 on the clock.

That proved to be as much separation as Boise State needed, as Colorado State was only able to trim the deficit down to eight for the remainder of the contest. The Broncos outshot CSU, 47 to 37 percent, on Wednesday, and shot 41 percent from three-point range as opposed to 24 percent for the Rams. Leading the Broncos to that three-point shooting performance was Riley Lupfer, who was 6-for-14 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points.

IN THEIR WORDS
Colorado State head coach Ryun Williams
"They've (Boise State) got a lot of weapons and they're smart and pass the ball well. At the end of the day, we got good shots and we played some decent offense against what they were doing. They've got some shot-makers. We got to the foul line a decent amount tonight, which is really positive. We did some nice stuff getting to the basket. We've just got to convert, but give them some credit. That's a really good basketball team.

NOTES
  • Wednesday night's game marked the 11th time that sophomore guard Lore Devos has led the team in scoring this season.

  • Devos scored in double figures for the 14th time this season.
  • Senior forward Tatum Neubert scored 13 points for her second-straight double-digit scoring effort and her third of the season.
