Rams Defeat Nevada in Overtime, Lordemann Notches Seventh Game-Winning Goal

10/25/2019 10:00:00 PM | Women's Soccer

Colorado State is one win away from securing a spot in the postseason tournament for the first time in program history

RENO, Nev. – Colorado State took down their first Nevada opponent of the weekend, defeating the Wolf Pack 2-1 in the third minute of overtime.

Everything happened in the last 13 minutes. Both the Rams and the Wolf Pack played a defense dominant game that lent itself to the only scoring being in the latest minutes of the match.

Nevada struck first with a goal from Payton Lieb in the 81stminute of regulation play. It only took two minutes for Caeley Lordemann to answer back to send the match into overtime. Another three minutes, and Lordemann did it again, calling game for the Rams in their fourth overtime match of the season.

Nevada goalkeeper Kendal Stovall made nine saves on the night, three of which could have given Colorado State the upper hand early in the game. The Rams put the pressure on Stovall all night, and she wasn't the only defender that made game-changing saves.

Junior midfielder Hannah Souza was Stovall's saving grace, playing the majority of the match as the last line of defense and making huge clears to keep the Rams' pressure off.

While Nevada succeeded in holding the Rams to just 12 shots on goal, Stovall still faced significantly more pressure than Gabi McDonald. Halley Havlicek and Addie Wright played hand in hand to keep the ball pressure away from McDonald. Where McDonald was challenged, she made four saves on the night, allowing only one goal.
