FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women's basketball team made up a nine-point fourth-quarter deficit to take Boise State to overtime before falling to the Broncos, 72-63, in the Rams' State Pride game on Wednesday night at Moby Arena.
Â
Colorado State (8-18, 2-13 MW) was led in scoring by junior guard Mollie Mounsey, who tallied 17 points, five boards and a pair of blocks. Sophomore guard Lore Devos scored 16 points, as did sophomore guard Grace Colaivalu, who registered each of the Rams' final nine points in regulation to push the game to overtime.
Â
CSU faced a 57-51 deficit with just over a minute to go, but Colaivalu drew fouls on the Rams' next two possessions and converted on all four free throws to chip away at the Broncos' lead. The sophomore continued with a layup-and-one that cut the deficit to one with just under 30 seconds to go. One Boise State (22-4, 13-2 MW) free throw later, Colaivalu buried her next layup to knot the game up at 59 points and force overtime with the conference's top-ranked team.
Â
Colaivalu made it 11 straight points for the Rams with another layup 41 seconds into overtime, but the only other points CSU recorded were on a Mounsey layup with 1:26 to go. Boise State made only one field goal in the overtime period, but got to the foul line 12 times in the final five minutes and converted on 10 attempts to pull away toward the final 72-63 result.

IN THEIR WORDS
Colorado State head coach Ryun Williams
"It's just a tough one. It's just a really hard one to take. You're just right there and you want it so bad for your group. Kids scratched and clawed and never gave up, so I feel for our group. Boise's a champion and they made the championship plays down the stretch. The big three, the drive and the fouls - those are winning plays. Boise won that game in overtime."
Â
On the team's mentality tonight:
"I think they're still trying to earn some respect and show our fans and show team in the late that we're not an easy out. They played for the love of the game tonight. There's a sacredness to this game, there's a sacredness to this arena. I thought they represented well in that area. The message all week was that. Make sure when people walk out of this arena, they respect how you play."
Â
