Head Coach Keeley Hagen Adds Three to Program

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Gathering her first recruiting class, head coach Keeley Hagen penned three new Rams on National Signing Day to join the Colorado State women's soccer program for the 2022 class.

The three new Rams include Jessica Shivers of Allen, Texas; Mia Massey of Parker, Colo.; and Ishana Sandhu of White Rock, British Columbia, Canada.

"With these three joining the Ram Family, our staff is very excited to get them here on campus and hit the ground running," head coach Keeley Hagen said. "They are officially our first recruiting class as a staff and we have very high expectations for this group.  Each one of them brings athleticism and soccer talent that we are looking forward to developing. They are a very diverse group, coming from Texas, Colorado, and Canada, which will provide more soccer acumen to our current group and help us to continue to grow towards meeting our goals. We've told this group, to come in fit, to prepare to be challenged and move outside of their comfort zone. And each one of them had a big smile on their face ready to go, which is exactly what we are looking for."

Starting with the offensive box, Sandhu, a 5-foot-10 forward, comes from Earl Marriott Secondary School and plays for the Surrey United SC (2004). Soccer is in her heritage as her cousin, Danny Batth, has played professionally overseas for over a dozen years in the Premier League and English Football League Championship, while currently rostered on Stoke City in the latter league. In 2019, Surrey United SC was the top-ranked club in BC and seventh nationally, according to GotSoccer.com. Prompting those rankings was a BC Soccer Premier Cup victory and a third-place finish at the Toyota National Championships AKA Canadian Nationals in Edmonton. Sandhu contributed one goal in the five games in which the team finished 4-1, losing to the eventual champions.

Shivers occupies the defensive box for Allen HS and will enter her senior season donning the captain badge. In each of the previous seasons, she was awarded All-District honors, helping the Eagles win 15 games in both seasons and reach one state tournament. It would have been two state appearances if it wasn't for COVID-19 prompting cancellation in her sophomore year. In the year prior, she represented the only freshman on the varsity roster when the team made it to the state semifinals after winning the district. For three seasons (2018-21), she played club for Solar ECNL, capping her time with a ECNL Texas Conference Championship and a third place showing at ECNL Nationals. She now is rostered by Sting Black ECNL and the team is 9-4 on the season.

Staying in-state is Massey, a 5-7 midfielder, from Ponderosa High School where she is a reigning All-Continental Second Team recipient as a junior. She contributed two goals and an assist last year for the Mustangs. Massey also is a familiar last name around the soccer circles in Colorado as her sister, Megan, played three years at Colorado, amassing 20 career points (6 G, 8 A) in 62 starts. For club, Mia plays with the Real Colorado National ECNL GU 18/19, which currently flaunts a 7-1 record.
