Rams Host Wolf Pack, Spartans

Colorado State returns home to host Nevada and San Jose State.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State returns to Moby Arena and will host Nevada and San Jose State this week in Mountain West action. The Rams will face the Wolf Pack on Thursday night at 7 p.m., MT before finishing the week on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m., MT against the Spartans. CSU recorded wins earlier this season against both teams while on the road.
 
Rams at a Glance
» Colorado State continued Mountain West action last week with a pair of road matches. The Rams swept Air Force on Thursday before dropping the final match of the week at New Mexico and ending their seven-match winning streak.
» Following this week's matches, the Rams will have just one home match left - Nov. 13 vs. Fresno State.
» CSU has cruised past eight of its 12 conference opponents, including recording a sweep in each of the six conference matches at home and hold a 32-9 set mark in Mountain West matches.
» The Rams have played four five-set matches this season, with each coming down to the final two points.
» Colorado State has gathered three Mountain West weekly awards so far this season -- sophomore outside Kennedy Stanford earned Offensive Player of the Week and senior libero Alexa Roumeliotis earned Defensive Player of the Week twice.
» In the Rams 21 matches played this season, 24 sets have been decided by two points – with 14 falling in favor of CSU. In Mountain West action, the Rams are 8-2 in those set scenarios.
 
Scouting Nevada
» Nevada is 0-12 in the Mountain West, sitting 11th in the standings and on a 12-match losing streak.
» Since the Rams first faced the Wolf Pack earlier this season, Nevada has lost seven straight.
» The Pack has played in just one five-set match this season, coming last week hosting San Jose State.
» Nevada has been swept 14 times this season, including nine times in Mountain West play.
 
Scouting San Jose State
» San Jose State carries a 15-7 overall record, tied for second in the Mountain West standings with a 9-3 mark and a six-match win streak into the week.
» The Spartans will play at Wyoming on Thursday night before coming to Fort Collins.
» Since San Jose State suffered a home loss to Colorado State on Oct. 9, the Spartans have won their last six matches, including three sweeps and the rest going the distance.
» The Spartans snagged a pair of five-set wins last week against Nevada and Fresno State.
» Saturday's match will feature two of the best backrow defenders in the league as Sarah Smevog leads the Mountain West with a 4.47 average, just inching out Alexa Roumeliotis at 4.44.
» Mia Schafer directs the Mountain West's most balanced attack, dishing out a team-high 10.58 assists and has three different players in the Top 10 in kills.
 
Last Time
» The Rams swept the Wolf Pack earlier this season while in Reno, Nev., on Oct. 7. The Rams improved their series record against Nevada to 18-2, including winning 17 straight and all 11 matches in Reno. Sasha Colombo led the Rams with nine kills and three blocks. Karina Leber added five blocks as CSU finished with 12 for the match. Ruby Kayser had a break-out match from the service line, dropping in four aces.

» Colorado State picked up a 3-1 win at San Jose State earlier this season on Oct. 9. The Rams won in Spartan Gym for just the seventh time, improving their road record to 7-5 overall. The match was the fourth consecutive played in San Jose, Calif. Jacqi Van Liefde led the Rams with 15 kills and hitting .484 with a perfect 15-0-31 performance. Annie Sullivan also reached double-figures with 13 kills and added two solo blocks. Ciera Pritchard recorded a double-double with 37 assists and 10 digs.
 
Series History
» Colorado State and Nevada will meet for the 21st time, as CSU holds an 18-2 overall record.
» The Rams have won the last 17 matches dating back to 2012, including the last six in Moby Arena.
» CSU has never played a five-set match with Wolf Pack, while also sweeping them 13 times during the 17-match winning streak.

» Colorado State leads the series against San Jose State, 18-7 overall and a perfect 10-0 in Moby Arena.
