Bats Come Alive as Rams Start Weekend 2-0

Colorado State started the weekend with a pair of wins over Northern Colorado and Oregon State.
GREELEY, Colo. – The Colorado State softball started the weekend with a pair of victories on Friday with wins against Northern Colorado and Oregon State. The Rams' bats came alive recording a combined 22 hits between the two victories.

GAME ONE | W 7-2 | Box Score
Northern Colorado put the first score on the board in the bottom of the first after scoring in the bottom of the first after an error. Colorado State responded in the next frame, scoring five runs on five hits and had some help from a pair of UNC errors. The Bears scored a run in the bottom of the second, which would be their final score of the game. The Rams added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh after Maya Matsubara sent a two-run homer over center field to put the final score a 7-2.

NOTES
- Ashley York was grabbing extra bases as the freshman recorded a double and triple in her two hits. She also brought in two RBI.
- Maya Matsubara hit her first collegiate home run to score two runs, while also adding a sac hit. Matsubara led the Rams with three hits in her three plate appearances.
- Corina Gamboa also registered a pair of hits
- CSU totaled 12 hits in the win, including drawing a walk and striking out just once
- Taylor Gilmore (1-1) hurled the whole game, earning the win with just one earned run and striking out two batters and no walks.

GAME TWO | W 10-1 | Box Score
Colorado State put the first runs on the board in the top of the second inning after a pair of singles and a lead off double by Danielle Serna to moved runners around the bases to lead 2-0. Oregon State got on the board in the bottom of the fourth after a CSU fielding error. The Rams extended their lead in the sixth after Peyton Allen hit her first homer of her career with a three-run shot to left center to put the score at 5-1. CSU added a few insurance runs in the final frame after a five-run three-hit inning, aided by two OSU errors gave Colorado State a 10-1 lead. The Beavers put a runner on in the bottom of the seventh via a walk, but Jessica Jarecki got off the field retiring the side on strikeouts.

- Peyton Allen also was successful at the plate, recording two hits and scoring two runs with five RBI
- Jalyn McGuffin added to the offense with two hits
- Both Corina Gamboa and Allen swiped a base
- Jessica Jarecki (2-2) threw the whole game recording no earned runs and punching out nine batters
