SAN DIEGO, Calif. – In its first true road game of the year, No. 20 Colorado State could not get consistency on offense and lost at defending Mountain West champion San Diego State, 79-49, Saturday afternoon. The Rams suffered their first loss of the year and fell to 11-1 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the Aztecs improved to 10-3 and 2-0 in conference action.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with the host Aztecs taking a four-point halftime lead as the teams combined for 31 free throw attempts in the opening 20 minutes. San Diego State built the margin to 13 in the early going of the second half, including an 10-0 run over 3:16, as CSU scored just two points in the first six minutes. The SDSU lead continued to grow throughout the half, increasing to as many as 30 in the final minutes as CSU did not score in the last 5:24.

CSU shot 27.9 percent (12-of-43) from the floor, including 5-of-21 in the second half. The Rams were also only 3-of-20 from the three-point arc. San Diego State was 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the field, 47.1 percent (8-of-17) on threes and won the battle of the boards, 38-21.

The Rams had jut two players in double figures, as juniors David Roddy and Isaiah Stevens combined to score 36 of the 49 points for CSU. SDSU had five with 10 or more, as Matt Bradley led all scorers with 26 points.

STAT OF THE GAME
• Against one of the top defenses in the country, CSU was unable to find the effectiveness on offense, shooting a season-low from the field.

NOTES
• This is a tight series, with San Diego State holding a 47-42 edge, including 29-14 in San Diego and 43-39 in league play.
• The loss snapped CSU's 11-game winning streak to open the year, which is tied for the second-longest winning streak in program history.
